Badhak, Badhakastana

Badhak literally means obstruction. Badhakastana is a sign that creates the obstruction. For example, if the Lagna lord is transiting through this sign, one may experience obstacles, sorrow, disease, or imprisonment. And also the features that the Badhakastana sign and house represent can be somehow troubled in the person and his or her life. Like lack sense of family or problem with it for Scorpio Ascendant. The ruler of Badhakastana also gives bad results during its Dasha. In K.P. System created by Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti Badhakastana is used for determination of longevity. The conjoined period of Maraka planet and the lord of Badhakastana can be fatal. By itself, the lord of Badhakastana and the planet located in Badhakastana are not considered malefics (unless they are natural or temporal malefics by themselves).

The Rule: For all Ascendants in movable signs, the 11th house is Badhakastana. For all Ascendants in fixed signs, the 9th house is Badhakastana. For all Ascendants in dual signs, the 7th house is Badhakastana.
